The manifesto
Nobody needs more inspiration.
You have had enough of it. The stages, the quotes, the Monday that was going to be different. It felt like progress. It changed nothing.
I know, because I was the best customer the motivation industry ever had. I started things. I got completely absorbed. Then something new appeared and I moved on. For years I mistook motivation for progress.
Motivation is a mood. A mood is not a plan.
I did not lack knowledge. I did not lack ambition. I lacked discipline, and the right kind: the kind that works on the days you do not feel like it.
What I believe
- Discipline is a decision made before the mood arrives. You do not wait to feel ready.
- A discipline beats a goal. A goal is where you want to be. A discipline is what you do whatever happens.
- If it is not recorded, it did not happen. The Record keeps you honest when your memory will not.
- No mercy on the gap. The gap between what you know and what you do gets none. The person gets kindness. I went from 147.5 kg to 90 kg and the journey is still on, by being hard on the gap and fair to myself.
- Proof over promises. I would rather show you the Record than tell you a story.
What I am doing about it
I did not need another dream. I needed to become the person capable of building it.
So I hold one discipline, every day, and I write it down. If I miss a day, I say so. That is the whole system.
Hold one with me.
